Project Summary

The QualySleep HIV project is a cross-sectional study investigating the prevalence and associated factors of poor sleep quality among adults living with HIV. As antiretroviral therapy (ART) has improved survival, the focus of HIV care has expanded to include quality of life and overall well-being. Sleep disturbances are increasingly recognized as a significant but under-addressed issue in this population. The study, conducted in a clinical care setting, collects data on socio-demographics, clinical status, lifestyle, and mental health to examine how these factors influence sleep quality. It also explores the relationship between sleep patterns, metabolic risk, and HIV treatment outcomes. Findings from QualySleep HIV will provide evidence to support more holistic and integrated models of HIV care, where sleep health is considered alongside virological control, ultimately contributing to improved long-term outcomes for people living with HIV.

Our Role in the Project

We serve as the Principal Investigator of the QualySleep-HIV study and lead all aspects of its execution—from funding acquisition and protocol development to fieldwork coordination and data analysis. Our responsibilities include developing study instruments, obtaining ethical approvals, and managing recruitment and data collection. We oversee electronic data capture using REDCap, implement real-time dashboards for field monitoring, and ensure quality control throughout. Our team will lead the statistical analysis, interpretation of results, and production of manuscripts and policy briefs. Our leadership ensures the study delivers high-impact, context-relevant insights for improving HIV care.
