ECORM is not a run-of-the-mill online course. It is a complete blueprint for your research career: six courses, eighteen modules, and a certificate at every step, taking you all the way from a research idea to a funded, well-run, defensible study.
Six pillars, one complete researcher
- Ask the right question. Turn a vague field concern into a sharp, answerable research question, and spot bias, confounding, and validity issues before you begin.
- Design it to survive scrutiny. Choose the design that truly fits, from cohort and case-control to randomized, cluster, and stepped-wedge trials, and turn it into a feasible protocol.
- Power it with confidence. Calculate the exact sample size and power your study needs, hands-on in R, before you enroll a single participant.
- Master the evidence. Run a registered systematic review and meta-analysis that turns scattered literature into clear consensus.
- Run it ethically and cleanly. Lead compliant, patient-centered studies built on Good Clinical Practice, SOPs, and real quality control.
- Own your data end to end. Build secure digital pipelines in ODK and REDCap, from first field entry to clean, audit-ready export.

Course 1 · Foundations of Global Health Research:14 lessons, about 11 hours.
From a raw idea to a sharp, answerable question (FINER, PICO), with a firm grip on bias, confounding, and validity.
Course 2 · Designing Global Health Research Studies: 17 lessons, about 14 hours.
Pick the right design, from cohort and case-control to randomized, cluster, and stepped-wedge trials, and turn your question into a feasible protocol.
Course 3 · Sample Size and Power Calculations: 10 lessons, about 8 hours.
Effect size, power, and precision made simple, then hands-on sample size in R (pwr, epiR, presize).
Course 4 · Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis: 20 lessons, about 16 hours.
Register on PROSPERO, search and screen at scale, appraise bias, and run a meta-analysis in R (metafor, forest plots).
Course 5 · Research Ethics, Implementation and Quality Management: 11 lessons, about 9 hours.
Ethics, consent, and Good Clinical Practice, plus SOPs, monitoring, and real quality assurance and control.
Course 6 · Digital Data Capture and Management with ODK and REDCap: 22 lessons, about 20 hours.
Design CRFs, build offline mobile forms in ODK, run full projects in REDCap, and export clean, audit-ready data.
