Bridging Disparities in Cancer Care Through Research & Innovation
The Cancer Research & Precision Oncology Center (CROC) is leading a bold mission to transform the cancer care journey across Africa—from prevention to precision treatment. In a region where cancer is often detected too late and access to effective care is limited, CROC stands as a vital force for change. We are tackling the root causes of cancer disparities by combining advanced research with proactive, community-oriented health strategies that prioritize early detection, prevention, and equitable treatment.
At CROC, prevention is a cornerstone of our work. We study environmental, lifestyle, and genetic risk factors to design education campaigns, screening programs, and policy recommendations that help people reduce their cancer risk before symptoms ever appear. In parallel, we advance precision oncology and clinical innovation, developing targeted therapies and personalized care models that improve outcomes for patients already diagnosed.
Our goal is to ensure that every breakthrough—whether in the lab or in the field—translates into better survival, better quality of life, and a future where fewer people have to face cancer at all. Because saving lives starts with stopping cancer before it starts.
What We Do

Epidemiological Studies
We investigate how cancer develops across diverse African communities by examining genetic traits, environmental exposures, and social determinants of health. This research forms the foundation for proactive cancer prevention strategies—helping to shape public awareness campaigns, improve early screening efforts, and inform equitable national and local health policies that aim to reduce cancer risks before diagnosis ever occurs.

Clinical Trials & Novel Therapies
We conduct groundbreaking clinical trials to evaluate emerging treatments—ranging from targeted therapies and immunotherapy to personalized care models. Our collaborations with international and regional partners ensure that African patients are not left behind, but instead benefit from the latest advances in oncology. These trials bring life-saving innovations closer to the people and places that need them most.

Genomic Research
We explore the genetic and molecular foundations of cancer to understand how tumors behave, respond to treatment, and differ across populations. This enables us to design precise, personalized therapies tailored to each patient’s unique biology. Genomic research is central to our mission of making advanced, individualized cancer care more accessible and effective throughout Africa.
